Who We Are
Apryl Lundsten comes to podcasting via a degree in screenwriting from the USC film school and over ten years experience as a journalist, radio reporter/producer and web developer. Her writing has been featured in pop culture, business, tech, teen, women's, men's, lifestyle, travel and entertainment magazines -- including Sunset, PBS Kids, ElleGirl, TV Guide, Maxim and more. Radio work includes feature reporting and producing for the public radio business program 'Marketplace' and its sister personal finance program 'Marketplace Money' -- both shows air on National Public radio and have 7 million regular listeners. She's also done commentary for NPR's 'All Things Considered' and written two non-fiction books for Scholastic, Inc. While at USC, Apryl built websites and created podcasts before they were called "podcasts." LA Podsquad is the perfect fit for Apryl as pod-producing combines all of her writing, producing, technology and radio skills. Plus, she loves finding the stories in people, places and things and sharing them with her friends and the world.
Laurel Moglen graduated from UCLA with a degree in history. She's produced and reported for NPR-affiliated KCRW and KPCC on the national and local award-winning programs, "To the Point," "Which Way, LA?," "Talk of the City," and "Marketplace Money". Over the years she's interviewed hundreds of guests ranging from independent rock musicians to politicians. She's also an award-winning filmmaker, winning Best Short and other honors for her film "Call Waiting." Before working in radio, Laurel was a theatre, television, and film actress, working with Anthony Hopkins, Alfred Molina, and Jack Black. Laurel found that combining the research, technology, and production skills she learned from public radio with the qualities of empathy, listening, and storytelling she learned from acting were a great fit with podcast production--a unique synergy!
